Initially,
the Diablo 3 Barbarian was meant to be the same as in the second version of the game. But, the idea was abandoned and just a few of the original skills were preserved. The class is represented by an aging old man with a good muscular structure and a white beard. The class is based on melee fighting and uses Fury as a resource pool. The origin of the class comes from the Bastion's Keep, Mount Arreat and it is affiliate to the Children of Bul-Kathos.

Players can choose a female or a male. While the male has a gray hair, the hair of the female is orange. The class has seven types of skills, from which six categories are active and one is passive. The categories of active skills are: Primary, Secondary, Defensive, Might, Tactics and Rage. All the active abilities generate a certain amount of Fury and can have different cooldowns.

The passive skills provide various advantages, such as armor, additional damage, Fury, reduce cooldowns, reduce the received damage, etc. Examples of active skills can be: Bash, which generates 8 Fury for each attack, Wirlwind, which can attack every target in range for 145% damage, Overpower, which can deal 165% weapon damage to every target in 9 yards, or Earthquake, which can deal 2000% of weapon damage by shaking the ground.

Good examples of passive skills can be Nerves of steel, which can provide 100% armor from the current amount of Vitality, or Tough as Nails, which can increase armor by 25%. The best skills for PVP could be Frenzy, Leap Attack, War Cry and Weapon Throw. War Cry can increase the armor for the character and the allies who are in a range of 30 yards by 100% for eighty seconds. The PVP skills of the Diablo 3 Barbarian can be familiar to most players as they are similar to the ones in Diablo 2.
