The task of our hero is absurdly simple yet devilishly complex in execution. You must turn a pitiful patch of sand into the richest city on the Silk Road covered in bazaars palaces mosques and gardens where fountains sing. The reward for success is a mountain of gold reaching the skies a seat on the carpet next to the Caliph himself and free plov on Fridays in all tea houses from here to the sea. Failure means eternal camel foot washing in Al Hamah tent accompanied by his mocking laughter. The path leads through dusty caravanserais smelling of sweat and dried melon through oases with water sweet as a kiss through cities where every cobblestone remembers the feet of great merchants. You will have to build bazaars so gold flows like a river dig wells so people do not die of thirst like flies in the hot noon hire trade caravans so spices and silk arrive from beyond the horizon build mosques so the happiness of the people grows like dough in the sun
