Zebrures means litteraly and figuratively, the stripes of a zebra, in French. Have you noticed the strange effect such stripes have on the eyes ? It is still simple black and white, but it does add some dynamic to the fonts, just as much as if they had been in color. I did quite a bit of research on such lines, at one point, for posters that were xeroxed, and no solid color could be used. I guess something remained.
These typefaces are hinted and kerned, and suited for any kind of printing work. They have been used by famous European printers to set text, using typesetting equipment
