Discus fish are very shy but intelligent fish. You will find that they will hide in plants and under rocks. They are very sensitive and they will need to be kept in a place where they will not be disturbed. A high traffic area is not recommended for your aquarium. If distributed they can become stressed and a lot of problems can start. To keep your discus fish happy and healthy, you have to keep them stress free. When discus fish becomes stressed they tend to stop eating and they can become ill.

Discus fish habitat originated from the Amazon River Basin and the water there is warm and calm. The water is deep and the fish live there in groups where they swim in between plants, rocks, leaves and branches. The area is shaded from the tall trees in the jungle. This is the same conditions that you want to create for your discus fish aquarium. If you provide a tank similar to this habitat, you will have happy, healthy, vibrant discus fish for years to come.
